द्वे कर्मणि नर : कुर्व न्नस्मिन्ल्लोके विरोचते |
अब्रुवन् परुषं किन्चिदसतोन् नर्चयं स्तधा ||

A man may become great in this world by doing two things ,
by refraining from harsh speech and by disregarding those
that are wicked . So said Vidura.

प्रुधिव्यां सागरान्तायां द्वाविमौ पुरुशाधमौ |
गृहस्थश्च निरारम्भ : सारंभश्चैव भिक्षुक : ||

There are two worst humans in this world bordered by
the seas, one a householder who does not do any work
and other a so called sanyasi ( saint ) who does all sorts of
jobs. So said Vidura .

एको धर्म: परम श्रेय: क्षमैका शान्तिरुत्तमा |
विद्यैका परमा तृप्ति रहिम्सैका सुखावहा ||

Dharma ( religious and social law ) is the only way
for welfare and prosperity . Only tolerance
and forgiveness can ensure peace. Education is the only
means to contentment and only nonviolence gives
happiness. So said Vidura.

आत्रुणे पतितो वह्नि : स्वयमे वोपशाम्यति |
अक्षमावान् परम् दोषै रात्मानं चैव योजयेत् ||

Fire falling on a grass less ground extinguishes
by itself. An unforgiving person burns himself
with his many faults . So said Vidura.

क्षमा वसीकृति र्लोके क्षमया किं न साध्यते |
शान्ति खड्ग : करे यस्य किं करिष्यति दुर्जन : ||

Patience and endurance conquers everything in the world.
Nothing is impossible for a tolerant one. What can a bad person
do to a good person with peace as his weapon and armour ?
So said Vidura.

एक : क्षमावतां दोषो द्वितीयो नोपपद्यते |
यदेनं क्षमया युक्त मशक्तं मन्यते जन : ||

There is only one weakness of a tolerant person , that is
his patience and no other . This quality of tolerance and
forgiveness is misunderstood to be incapability by others.

सोनस्य दोशो न मन्तव्य : क्षमा हि परमं बलं |
क्षमा गुणो ह्यशक्तानां शक्तानां भूषणं क्षमा ||

One should not think that is his weakness or defect.
As tolerance is the strength of the weak and the
ornament of the strong. So said Vidura.

एक : स्वादु न बुञ्जीत एकश्चार्धान्न चिन्तयेत |
एको न गच्छे दध्वानं नैक : सुप्तेषु जागृयात् ||

One should not eat something tasty all alone,
should not think alone about the meaning of some things ,
should not go all alone on a path , should not be awake when
all others are sleeping . So said Vidura .

The telugu translation of the same in the book …

రుచి గల పదార్ధమును ఒక్కడై తినరాదు . ఆయా
విషయముల నొక్కడై యాలోచింపరాదు . బాటలో
ఒంటరియై పోరాదు. తక్కినవారు నిద్రించునప్పుడు
ఒక్కడు మేల్కొనరాదు .

अर्धं महान्त मासाद्य विद्या मैश्वर्य मेव वा |
विचर त्यसमुन्नद्धो य : स पण्डित उच्यते ||

One who possesses wealth , wisdom and
a high social position , yet remains simple
is a wise person and true scholar.
So said Vidura.

आत्मनो बल मज्ञाय धर्मार्धपरिवर्जितम् |
अलभ्य मिच्छन्तैष्कर्मा न्मूढबुद्धि रिहोच्यते ||

One who desires for something which is morally not to be desired and
unattainable regardless his own strength and the effort required is
considered to be a fool. So said Vidura.

परम् क्षिपति दोषेण वर्तमान : स्वयम् तथा |
यश्च कृध्यत्यनीशान : स च मूढतमो नर : ||

One who blames others for his mistakes ,
who has uncontrollable anger , such a
person is a fool . So said Vidura.
